Have You Been Cleaning Your Skin Wrong?

I’ve always washed the makeup off my face before going to sleep at night, but it has recently come to my attention that I have been removing my makeup all wrong and it was actually harming my skin.
I read an article recently that prompted women to test if they were removing all of their makeup before jumping into bed. Turns out, I for one was doing it all wrong.
Next time you wash your face ready for bed, before putting your moisturiser on, grab a makeup pad, pop a little toner on it and wipe it across your forehead and cheeks. If it comes off completely clean, good job, you’ve done well. If it comes off a little brown or dirty, you haven’t removed your makeup correctly.
I ran the test, and I was shocked with the results! After jumping out of the shower I still had a whole lot of makeup stuck in my pores. I even had black mascara come off on to the makeup pad. Yuck!
I knew I needed to fix this immediately.
Here’s how I now pass the test every time.
Start with cleaning your face using Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and Swisspers. I do this twice. Removing as much makeup and dirt as I can. Both products are awesome and super cheap. Grab them from your local Priceline store.
Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser. Circular motions, not pressing too hard. Just enough to foam it up and cleanse your skin.
Next, a gentle scrub to get deep into the pores. Again, don’t press too hard. You don’t want to damage your skin.
Rinse will cool water and pat dry.
Now that you have completed these steps, repeat the test with your makeup pad. You shouldn’t have any traces of makeup left.
Don’t forget to use a hydrating serum, some rose hip oil and a light moisturiser to complete your night routine.
